O Dysonspheres − seven candidatesfound byMicheleFerrara revisedbyDamianG.Allis NASASolarSystemAmbassador n June 3, 1960, the journal Science published a report entitled“Searchfor Artificial Stellar Sources of Infrared Radia- tion.”Theauthor,FreemanJ.Dyson, introduced his short and daring con- tribution as follows: “If extraterres- trial intelligent beings exist and have reached a high level of techni- cal development, one by-product of their energy metabolism is likely to be the large-scale conversion of starlight into far-infrared radiation.
