ometimes, discoveries that deal with astronomy are so full of twists and turns that they re- semble the plot to a novel. The most recent example we know of is that of a group of craters of meteoric origin found in the department (a term used here to define a governmental region) of Hérault in the south of France, more precisely in the territo- ries of the municipalities of Faugères and Cabrerolles. The story revolves around a winery called, not by chance, “Domaine du Météore” (Me- teor Domain), located just south of the small town of Cabrerolles. The name was ascribed following a series of scientific studies undertaken on the site starting at the end of the 1940s, whose pioneers were the two important French geologists Bernard Gèze and André Cailleux. By exam- ining aerial photographs of the Hérault territories with the stereo- scopic method (which makes the im- ages three-dimensional), the two scientists noticed surface structures ﻣﺠﻠﺔ FreeAstronomy ﺎﻟﻌﺮ ﺔ ٥ ــــــــ ﺗﻜﻮن اﻻﻛﺘﺸﺎﻓﺎت اﻟﺘﻲ ﺗﺘﻨﺎول ﻋﻠﻢ اﻟﻔﻠﻚ ﻣﻠﻴﺌـﺔ ﺑﺎﻟﺘﻘﻠﺒـﺎت واﻻﻧﻌﻄﺎﻓـﺎت اﻟﺘـ ﻲ ﺗﺸﺒﻪ ﺣﺒﻜﺔ اﻟﺮواﻳﺔ . أﺣﺪث ﻣﺜﺎل ﻧﻌﺮﻓـﻪ ﻫـﻮ ﻣﺠﻤﻮﻋﺔ ﻣﻦ اﻟﻔﻮﻫﺎت ذات اﻷﺻـﻞ اﻟﻨﻴﺰﻛـﻲ وﺟـﺪت ﰲ ) داﺋـﺮة ﻣﺼـﻄﻠﺢ ﻳﺴـﺘﺨﺪم ﻫﻨـﺎ ﻟﺘﻌﺮﻳﻒ ﻣﻨﻄﻘﺔ ﺣﻜﻮﻣﻴـﺔ ( ﻣـﻦ ﻫ وﻟـﺖ ﰲ ﺟﻨﻮب ﻓﺮﻧﺴﺎ وﺑﺼـﻮرة أدق ﰲ أراﴈ ﺑﻠـﺪ ﺗﻲ ـ ــ ﻓﻮﺟ ﻳﺲ و ﻛﺎﺑﺮﻳﺮﻟﻴﺲ . ﺗﺪور اﻟﻘﺼﺔ ﺣـﻮل ﻣﺼﻨﻊ ﻻﻧﺘﺎج اﻟﻌﻨﺐ وﻟﻴﺲ ﻋﻦ ﻃﺮﻳﻖ اﻟﺼﺪﻓﺔ ﻳﺴﻤﻰ ) ﺣﻘﻞ اﻟﻨﻴـﺎزك ( ﻳﻮﺟـﺪ ﺟﻨـﻮ ب ﺑﻠـﺪة ﻛﺎﺑﺮﻳﺮﻟﻴﺲ اﻟﺼﻐ ة . ﻧُﺴﺐ اﻻﺳﻢ ﺑﻌﺪ ﺳﻠﺴﻠﺔ ﻣﻦ اﻟﺪراﺳﺎت اﻟﻌﻠﻤﻴﺔ اﻟﺘﻲ أﺟﺮﻳﺖ ﻋﲆ ا ﻮﻗﻊ ﰲ ﻧﻬﺎﻳﺔ اﻷرﺑﻌﻴﻨﻴﺎت ﻣﻦ اﻟﻘﺮن ا ﺎﴈ وﻛـﺎن روادﻫﻤﺎ اﻟﺠﻴﻮﻟﻮﺟﻴ اﻟﻔﺮﻧﺴﻴ اﻟﺸـﻬ ﻳﻦ ــــ ﺑﺮﻧﺎرد ﺟﻴﺰ وأﻧﺪرﻳﻪ ﻛﺎﻳﻠﻮ ﻓ ﻤﻦ ﺧﻼل ﻓﺤـﺺ اﻟﺼﻮر اﻟﺠﻮﻳﺔ ﻨـﺎﻃﻖ ﻫ وﻟـﺖ ﺑﺎﻟﻄﺮﻳﻘـﺔ ا ﺠﺴﻤﺔ ) اﻟﺘﻲ ﺗﺠﻌﻞ اﻟﺼﻮر ﺛﻼﺛﻴﺔ اﻷﺑﻌـﺎد ( ﻻﺣﻆ اﻟﻌﺎ ﺎن أن اﻟﻬﻴﺎﻛـﻞ اﻟﺴـﻄﺤﻴﺔ ﺗﺘﻤﻴـﺰ ﺑﺘﺸﻜﻴﻞ ﻣﻤﺎﺛﻞ ﰲ ﺑﻌﺾ اﻟﻨﻮاﺣﻲ ﻟﺘﻠﻚ ا ﺘﻌﻠﻘﺔ ﺑﺒﻌﺾ ﻓﻮﻫﺎت اﻻﺻﻄﺪام ا ﻌﺮوﻓﺔ . ﺗﻢ ﺗﻮزﻳﻊ ﻫ ـﺬه اﻟﻬﻴﺎﻛ ـﻞ ﻋ ـﲆ ﺧ ـﻂ ﻳﺒﻠــﻎ ﻃﻮﻟ ـﻪ ٦ ﻛﻴﻠﻮﻣﱰات ــــ ـ أﺣﻴ ﺎﻧﺎً - ﻣﺎﻳﻮ ﻳﻮﻧﻴﻮ 2023
