Forse, però, non troppo distanti per scam- biarsi, intenzionalmente o ca- sualmente, dei segnali elettro- magnetici. Anche se solo un decimo di quelle civiltà inviasse abitual- mente segnali di vario genere nello spazio, sufficientemente potenti da essere distinguibili a centinaia o migliaia di anni luce di distanza, le probabilità di re- gistrarli con i programmi SETI non sarebbero del tutto trascu- rabili.
